FAQQuestion IndexBasic vPost™ QuestionsWhat is vPost™?vPost™ lets you capture and email any combination of Pictures, Video, Audio Notes, Text & GPS location using an extremely powerful and simple interface. Once you capture any combination of media you can send it via email to friends, family, colleagues, blogs and social networks. Without vPost it can take over 5 minutes to compose an email with 2 pictures, an audio note, and GPS location. With vPost this task can be done in less than a minute with no hassles. How does licensing for vPost™ work?vPost™ is a paid application. However, users are also given a trial version where they could use the application for a short period of time. Upon the expiry of that, users are required to purchase the application to allow the application to function. What kind of data traffic does vPost™ generate?vPost™ does not generate any additional data other than the post information that shall be uploaded. The vPost™ information may contain all or some of the following : Picture, Voice, Text and Geo Stamp of the location of the post. Note: Vayyoo are not responsible for any additional fees your wireless carrier may charge for the transfer of your data or the download of the service. Who can I send and share my vPost™s with?You may send your vPost™s to your own email account, to your friends (where you share posts with your friends), or to a email group listing. You may also send your vPost™s to your Blog site(s) and/or social network accounts that are currently supported by vPost™. For a list of these sites, please check our web site. Can I set up a private ecosystem for my company?If you want to store the information on your company's servers we can accommodate this and help you set it up. Can I access my vPost™s from my mobile devices?You can view your Blogs / Social Network vPost™s by using the same web address to access those sites from your mobile device. Where can I find your privacy policy?You may find the privacy policy by going to the Vayyoo website (vpost.vayyoo.com) and clicking on the Privacy Statement. Who do I contact for technical support and feedback?For technical assistance, you may contact us through the vPost™ menu item "Send Feedback". You may also directly email us at support@vayyoo.com for technical support. How can I invite friends and colleagues to try the service?You may send an invitation to your friends and colleagues by clicking on the respective icon on the vPost™ main screen or by going to the menu list and selecting "Invite Friend". Setup and InstallationHow do I install vPost™?You may install vPost™ by browsing to the web sites that the application is hosted on and download the appropriate files either by requesting the Trial version or purchasing the paid version. You may then click on the downloaded application where you would be required to acknowledge the EULA and any other notifications that may be required. At that point you are ready to use the application. Enjoy using vPost™! Why does the device asks security related questions after downloading?vPost™ requires authorization to access the device GPS, it requires authorization to send data over the air and vPost⢠requires authorization to write to the device event log to capture any errors. Are BES and BIS supported?vPost™ supports users of both BlackBerry BES and BIS systems. What are the system requirements for vPost™ Application?Virtually all BlackBerry devices with OS of 4.5 or higher are supported. How can I tell which BlackBerry operating system my device uses?Go to the BlackBerry Options folder and click on "About" tab. It would show the version of the BlackBerry OS installed on your device. How can I check the version of my vPost™ application?You may also click on the About menu item to check the version of vPost™ you are using. I accepted the license agreement, but I want to re-visit it. How can I see it again?You may click on the About Menu item to review the license and to purchase the software. When I startup the application for the fist time, vPost™ asks to access my call logs, why does it need to do that?When an incoming phone call comes, vPost™ is designed to disable any ongoing voice recording immediately so the user can receive the phone. To do so vPost™ need to listen for incoming calls and hence needs to access call logs. vPost™ UsabilityI have multiple email accounts on my BlackBerry client, can I control the account my vPost™s are sent from?Yes. After pressing the email icon to send a vPost™, you may scroll to the top of the email and click on the field "Send Using:". You may then check or select your outgoing email account of choice. That email shall now remain as the outgoing account for all subsequent vPost™s until changed. How does the Sharing my location works?If your device has GPS, vPost™ may attach the location within the outgoing email as a web link. This would only occur if you enabled your location to be shared / sent (Google maps or BlackBerry map must be set to ON). The receiver may then click on the web link and see the location of your vPost™s on the Google maps or Blackberry map. What is the format of Voice Notes, and what media players support it?Voice notes are recorded in the "amr" file format which is standard for mobile devices. Aside from BlackBerry devices, almost all e more recent mobile devices support amr recorded files. This format can also be played on your BlackBerry or through Quick Time and RealPlayer on your PC. I press Update GPS from the menu item, but nothing happens, why is that?Update GPS tries to get a new GPS location but if your device doesn't support GPS or your cell phone can't get a GPS signal, the GPS state will not change. To verify you have GPS from your device map launch GPS and see if the map gets a GPS location. How do I confirm that my upload has been successfully sent?You can check the Sent box in your mobile email client to check the status of each vPost™ upload. Can I still use vPost™ if I don't have a BlackBerry with a built in camera or GPS?Yes, vPost™ only requirement is that the OS of the BlackBerry be 4.5+. If your device doesn't have a built in camera you will be only able to attach pre stored images. If your device doesn't have GPS all of your posts will be uploaded without the GPS information. How large can the vPost™ files be and typically how long will the files take to upload?There is a limit of 1.5 MB on the total file size of a vPost™ attachment; that includes pictures, audio, video and text. If you exceed this limit, vPost™ shall warn you to reduce the file sizes. The upload duration is directly based on the size of your upload and the device transmission capability. GPRS based device will experience greater delays than WiFi or 3G supported devices. Can I take more than one picture and if I am not happy with any one picture, do I have to delete all of them?vPost™ allows users to take and/or attach any combination of up to 5 pictures, video or audio recording as long as they do not exceed the recommended total file limit. You can remove any individual attached file by bringing the image in the center of the image ring and then pressing from the menu item "Remove Image." Can I play a voice note that I have recorded and can I re-record if I am not happy with it?Under menu items users have the option to play their voice note. Devices with qwerty keyboard can also press the speaker button to play their voice note. If the voice note is re-recorded the previous voice note is deleted by default. How can I confirm that my vPost™s were successfully sent?You may check the send box of your email to confirm that the vPost™ has been successfully sent. When I try to attach a file from my SD card, the device seems to freeze on many occasions. What is happening?If there are too many files in the SD directory it takes a long time to load the files from the file system and hence it may look like it is not responsive. Am I able to resend a vPost™ to the same or other users/destinations?Yes. You may go to the email sent box and forward a vPost™ to the same or an alternate destination(s) as many times as you wish. Can I upload video clips? are there any technical restrictions?Yes you may either attach video clips from your SD desk/device memory or can record a video from vPost™. Your video clip must be in 3GP format and its size must be less than the vPost™ attachment limit of1.5MB. Which social network / Blog sites can I sent from vPost™?You may send your vPost™s directly via email to the many Social Network / Blog sites. Sites that are currently supported are: Picasa, Flickr, Blogger, Wordpress, Utterli, Skout, Blip.tv, Radar, CNN iReport. Moreover, by creating an account on Posterous (Posterous,com), our Social Network partner, enables you to send your vPost™s to these additional sites: Facebook, Twitter, Movable Type, Typepad, LiveJournal, Xanga, Shopify. To post your vPost™s onto these social network and Blog sites, you must have an account with them beforehand. Can I see the exact location on a map of where I am using vPost™?Yes you can be clicking on the Show on Map item on the menu list. You must have your GPS active and it must have GPS coordinates. I can't seem to be able to play the voice note recording on my PC?The vPost™ voice recording is based on the .'amr' format. To play vPost™ voice notes on your PC, you would need to download the QuickTime or RealPlayer. You may download either application by going to their respective sites. QuickTime: www.apple.com/quicktime; RealPlayer www.realplayer.com I can't seem to be able to play the attached vPost™ video on my PC?The vPost™ video is in the 3GP format. You may have Quicktime version 6.5 or later, or RealPlayer to play video. You may download either application by going to their respective sites. QuickTime: www.apple.com/quicktime; RealPlayer www.realplayer.com Every time I send a vPost™ my notes and attachment disappear from screen. How can I keep them?Should you want to retain your notes and attachment after sending your vPost™, go to the Settings tab, select "General Settings" and change the field "Clear after sending" to No. Can I allow another BlackBerry user to see my post location within BlackBerry Maps Application?You may send your vPost™ location by activating the BlackBerry Map setting. This would allow a BlackBerry user receiving your vPost™ to see your location on their Blackberry map by clicking on the web link. Can I allow a Desktop user to see my post location vPost™?You may activate either Google map or BlackBerry map capability via the vPost™ Setting. This would allow a desktop user receiving your vPost™ to view your posted location on Google map or BlackBerry map by clicking on the location link in the email. Will I be notified when my attached files are too large?A warning shall be given whenever the size of an upload exceeds the 1.5MB size limit. You should reduce your attachment size below that limit to allow its successful delivery. For newer BlackBerry devices (e.g. Bold) every time I want to use vPost™, I have to go to download folder to start the application. How can I move the icon to main screen?Go into the download folder, click menu and move to folder and select home. Once the icons is on the main screen, you may use the Move feature and position it at the top of the main screen. I think that my battery is being drained more than usual after I started using vPost. Why is this happening?Battery use is completely under control of the user. Primary reason is frequency of GPS search. The application enables users to select the settings themselves. If GPS is enabled and a high rate of GPS refresh is selected, then battery power would be impacted. Also, heavy use of video and camera also impacts battery life. Managing Your vPost™ SettingsWhat is the vPost™ Settings and what capabilities it provides me?Please refer to the user guide for a detailed note on vPost™ settings. My Battery is low and I don't want vPost™ to use GPS, how do I disable it?All GPS settings can be found under Settings → Advanced settings. A user can disable the GPS mode and/or increase the GPS frequency so that vPost™ polls the GPS after a long time. Keep in mind, vPost™ already optimizes GPS calls to ensure optimal battery life. I need to record long voice notes, how long a voice recording can I make?You may record up to 5 minutes per voice note. To not exceed the 1.5MB limit, would typically allow you to record 3 voice notes each of 5minutes long. To avoid having to hold the voice icon during your recording time, please go to the vPost™ Menu → Record audio. Voice recording will start right away and you may end the recording by clicking on the voice icon. My Blackberry device is out of memory and I can't vPost™ my pictures on my screen, what do I do?There are a couple of ways to free up some space. One is to switch where the files are being stored under Settings → vPost™ settings. Another way is to delete / clean up all old images that have already been posted. Please refer to your device manual on how to remove files/images from your device. I may not want to show the locations on some of my vPost™s, can I disable the GPS via vPost™?You may perform this by going to the Settings and selecting no for both the BlackBerry and Google map web links. I would like to customize the main screen to my preferences. Can I do that?You may go to the menu list and select Set Background image. You may then select any jpg or png files from your device memory or SD card. To revert to the default simply go to the Settings menu and select default for Background. What are Hot Keys and how do they help me?Hot key and Short cuts provide fast and easy use to the various vPost™ features when you are on the main screen. The hot keys are:

Can I clean up all the settings that I saved, to go back to "factory defaults"?Yes, you can. Please go to the Settings tab and select General Settings. Then click "Reset All to Default". Known IssuesAfter composing vPost™ and sending as an email, it takes a long time for some of my vPost™s to be sent. Am I doing something wrong?The most case is that your vPost™ is quite large. If your attachments are large, it would take much longer for them to be sent from the BlackBerry email. This is especially the case if your device is not 3G or WiFi supported. What happens if I ignore the "Exceed Upload Limit" warning and send my vPost™ anyway?You must always respect the limit and not send your vPost™. Should you ignore and sent it, depending on the size of the vPost™; it may cause the application to freeze, necessitating the device to be rebooted. |
